Internships Against War and Racism and Internship Application

Learn valuable organizing skills interning with the A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism) Coalition this fall or spring. Fulfill independent study or community service requirements while becoming part of the movement for social justice in our communities and internationally. Help build the movement to stop the war and occupation in Iraq and end colonial occupation in Palestine, Afghanistan, Haiti, and everywhere. A.N.S.W.E.R. uses a diversity of tactics and strategies to build, sustain and expand the new antiwar, anti-racist, pro-justice movement that has emerged. In addition to helping build protest marches, interns have the opportunity to gain experience through organizing various A.N.S.W.E.R. projects, including:

• Monthly A.N.S.W.E.R. Educational Public Forums
• Monthly A.N.S.W.E.R. Film Series
• Coalition Organizing
• Internet Organizing
• Labor, Community, and Youth Organizing
• Regional organizing/Speaking Tours (public speaking)
• Media Advocacy, Video Production and Documentary Digital Photography
• Resource Development and Non-profit e-Commerce
• Website Administration
• Research
• Office Management

Qualifications: Passion to work with others to build the social justice movement. No experience required. Experience in multi-cultural and diverse gender environments helpful. Bilingual language skills helpful. General knowledge of computers and community organizing experience helpful.

Eight to 40 hours a week for a 4- to 6-week minimum encouraged. A.N.S.W.E.R. is a volunteer-based organization. This internship is unpaid.

About A.N.S.W.E.R.: A.N.S.W.E.R.'s national steering committee represents organizations that have campaigned against U.S. intervention in Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Asia, and for social and economic justice for workers and poor people in the U.S. A.N.S.W.E.R. is the leading anti-imperialist coalition in the U.S. antiwar movement. A.N.S.W.E.R. has been key in organizing the historic mass antiwar demonstrations of the last 3 years.

A.N.S.W.E.R. counts dozens of international affiliates. From the inception of the coalition, our strategy has been to link with movements in other countries, to create, sustain and expand a united front of local, national and international dissent and opposition to the U.S. government and corporate elite's drive for racist war and occupation and ever more assaults on civil liberties. A.N.S.W.E.R.'s internship program includes a mentoring system and programs to raise awareness among activists of historical and current political developments, fighting racism and all forms of bigotry, the struggle for self-determination for oppressed peoples and how these issues affect our society and impact the struggle for peace and social justice.
